Description:
Sesame Workshop is seeking a full-time Content Specialist and Freelance Content Specialist.
Freelance Content Specialist & Senior Content Specialist:
Sesame Workshop is developing a new version of The Electric Company in addition to other projects. The project is designed to offer literacy development skills to struggling readers preschool thru 4th graders, and will include extensive television, online, print, and outreach components.
Reporting to the Director, Education & Research (on the Creative Development Team) this position requires knowledge of child development, literacy, innovative educational practices, and excellent skills in curriculum development. The ideal candidate will be able to identify critical educational needs and develop age-appropriate content for struggling preschool readers thru 4th graders across media platforms. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.
POSITION PROFILE:
•Assist in the development and implementation of educational content across media platforms for children and their adult caregivers. This will include reviewing scripts, being on-set during shoots as needed, and working with the creative team to ensure the educational integrity of all materials, including online, print, and outreach activities.
•Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings, materials, and communications among members of each project team and curricular/content advisors, partners, and funders.
•Maintatin clear, solution-focused communications with team members
•Assist in the development of research interview protocols for field research.
•Assist in identifying critical educational needs for today's children by maintaining a contextual understanding of: child development; current educational research and methods;current and possible future educational policies, trends and changes in the educational and media industries.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
•Knowledge of literacy education and child development (through early adolescence), teaching experience preferred
•Masters Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education
•Strong understanding of Early Childhood educational practices and innovative educational trends
•Experience developing age-appropriate educational curriculum
•Experience in developing age-appropriate materials for children and their caregivers
•Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications
•Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
•Flexibility to various situations and strong multi-tasking skills
•Displays creativity in the development of materials
•Computer skills – Excel, Power Point, Word
