Description:

Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago is currently seeking a full-time Grant Writer who will be responsible for coordinating fundraising efforts from corporate, foundation, and government sources.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Researching possible funding sources and evaluating prospects.
2. Participating in interdepartmental dialogues and meetings to identify and prioritize project needs and coordinate grant prospects.
3. Compiling, writing, and editing grant applications for approval by Director of Development, Vice Presidents and President & CEO.
4. Preparing all grant reporting as required by corporate, foundation and government funding sources.
5. Tracking due dates for grant applications and reports to funding sources.
6. Maintaining records, both paper and electronic, for all donor-related activities with a high level of detail and confidentiality.

Additional Qualifications:

1. A minimum of two years experience with grant writing; knowledge of trends in early childhood education a plus.
2. Non-profit experience preferred; working knowledge of local, state and federal funding sources a plus.
3. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
4. Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
5. Must be able to interface with all levels of staff members, volunteer board members and donors with discretion, professionalism and tact.
6. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite preferred; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
