DEVELOPMENT WRITER

The Jewish Women’s Archive, an innovative educational non-profit organization located in Brookline, MA, seeks a creative, results-oriented Development Writer to work on contract. Reporting to the executive team, composed of the Executive Director, Director of Development, and Deputy Director, the Development Writer will play a key role in helping to increase the organization’s visibility, build and maintain relationships with current funders, and maximize its ability to engage new supporters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Craft letters of inquiry for foundations and individual prospects.
• Assist in drafting grant proposals and reports, briefings, and associated documents as directed.
• Write annual report, donor updates, appeal and acknowledgement letters, newsletter copy (3X/year), occasional brochures, and other print communications as needed.
• Coordinate with appropriate JWA staff and external stakeholders to obtain information for proposals, reports, and newsletters.
• Collect and store information pertaining to organizational initiatives for use in all development correspondence.
• Create and manage a rolling file of language to be used by entire JWA staff.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, min. two years professional writing experience. Preferred candidates will have prior writing experience in areas such as public relations, direct mail marketing and/or journalism. Strong organizational, interpersonal and team-working skills. Affinity for the mission of the Jewish Women's Archive.
