Description:

The Community Organizer will be responsible for developing and implementing a plan to engage community members, including adults and youth, to respond to and prevent domestic violence in their neighborhood. Under the supervision of the Director of Community Services, the Community Organizer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participate in the development of a public awareness campaign with adult and youth residents, organizations and businesses through: kitchen table conversations, recruitment of and relationships with community members through various activities and events, supporting these residents in project/campaign execution and implementing ongoing evaluation and assessment activities
( surveys and community mapping);
• Develop and maintain collaborations with local organizations;
• Conduct trainings for community residents and local organizations;
• Assist in the creation of educational materials;
• General office maintenance and administrative staff support; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Qualifications:

Minimum 1-2 years experience in community organizing and/or working in the field of domestic violence intervention/prevention; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; experience working with youth; knowledge of Brockton, its community organizations and diverse cultures; excellent written and verbal skills, including large group presentations; able to use common office computer programs and databases; work independently or as part of a team; manage priorities; bilingual/bicultural preferred; must be flexible and willing to work varied schedule (some weekends); travel throughout Brockton; and be able to lift up to 20 pounds of program materials.
