Description:

The Intake Paralegal/Case Manager/Tenant Advocate will perform the following tasks under the supervision of an attorney: interview clients, assess the strength of case, prepare responsive pleadings and/or appropriate motions, determine evidence necessary to prove the case, prepare files for trial, process files post-trial, follow up with clients, outreach to community agencies and perform other duties as assigned. This position is for our main office in central Los Angeles.

Additional Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree
• Proficiency in MS applications (Windows, Word and Excel)
• Some legal experience preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of low-income persons
• Bilingual Spanish/English required, with strong verbal and written skills in both languages
• Excellent interpersonal and phone skills
• Ability to relay complicated legal concepts to tenants in layperson terms
• Ability to multi-task, pay strict attention to detail, perform under tight deadlines, effectively prioritize work load, take initiative and learn quickly
