Description:
The Vice-President of Development is responsible for maintaining and growing Outfest’s Individual Giving department and managing the Corporate Relations department and Grants and Foundations department. Individual will work with the Executive Director, the Director of Corporate Relations and the Outfest Board of Directors to raise income in all three areas.
Job Responsibilities:
Individual Giving
•Identify, cultivate and solicit individuals in support of Outfest’s mission.
•Develop and execute an annual strategy for both new and renewing/upgrading major donors ($1,350+), including expansion and diversification of the major donor roster.
•Work with the Board of Directors, specifically the Development Committee, to engage current and prospective major donors, including correspondence and in-person meetings with a focus on gifts of $1350 + annually.
•Have personal responsibility for a portfolio accounting for $200k - $400k per year in sustainable annual revenue, with appropriate increases in each subsequent year.
•Manage a membership/major donor program that brings in $650,000 annually including managing the design and implementation of fundraising campaigns, as well as strategic marketing and communication initiatives related to major donors.
•Responsible for the planning and execution of major donor cultivation, solicitation and/or appreciation events.
•Manage major donor database and correspondence.
•Keep abreast of federal and state tax laws that may be relevant to major donor gift prospects.
Corporate Relations & Strategic Partnerships
•Manage the Director of Corporate Relations who is responsible for $450k in annual sponsorship revenue with appropriate increases in each subsequent year.
•Oversee an annual strategy for both new and returning corporate sponsors & strategic partnerships.
•Oversee invoicing and timely delivery of payment by corporate sponsors.
Foundations and Grants
•Manage foundation and grants that include writing and submitting 6-10 grants per year totaling $125k of annual revenue.
•Research potential new grants and foundations.
Other
•Oversee fundraising elements of the Legacy Award and other special events including ticket sales sponsors, tribute journal ad sales, silent and live auctions.
•Maintain departmental budget, reporting regularly to the Executive Director.
•Undertake projects and duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Additional Qualifications:
Qualifications:
•Minimum of five (5) years of
demonstrated success as a front-line
fund-raiser, with increasing levels of
responsibility and success (Expertise
in individual major donors/gifts
required, as well as experience with
corporate sponsors and grants.)
•Proven track record of meeting and/or
exceeding annual revenue goals.
•Proven track record of well-honed
skills in developing long-term
individual and corporate donor
cultivation and solicitation strategies.
•Minimum of two (2) years experience
supervising and motivating staff and
working directly with Board members.
•A commitment to Outfest’s mission
and an understanding of its five
programs and their role in the broader
LGBT Movement.
•Exceptional verbal and written
communication skills; a high level of
comfort with direct donor interaction,
including discussions of personal and
family finances.
•Excellent time management and
organizational skills, including
attention to detail.
•Ability to work well independently and
as part of a team.
•Ability to manage several projects
simultaneously and to succeed under
pressure.
•Ability to be both engaging and
professional when making
presentations at events and meetings.
•Ability to work well with others and to
exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
•Strong knowledge of Filmmaker Pro
database, MS Office Suite applications
and Internet.
