Description:

The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight of the program;will assist in the development and implementation of program including day to day activity and learning plans, progress, safety and well being of the children as well as the knowledge of and conformance of all regulations as required by licensing agencies.

The Assistant Director will also assist with and over see:
Planning and execution of appropriate reading readiness experiences for each curriculum group and follow through with teaching staff;
Planning and execution of appropriate art, music, literature, science, etc., activities;
Records of progress of each child's growth and development;
Communication regarding child's growth and development with staff members, Program Director and parents;
Progress reports on all children in a timely manner, in accordance with DEEC regulations, and with the assistance of Teachers;
Classrooms and all educational equipment and materials;
Records of all accidents, concerns regarding children, unusual behavior of children, suspected incidents of abuse and/or neglect and communicate information to Program Director;
Ensurance of adequate nurturing of child's developmental tasks, including any special needs mandated by Protective Services;

Assistant Director will:
Schedule and participate in all staff/parent meetings;
Schedule and facilitate team meetings;
Coordinate staff, staff responsibilities and staff breaks;
Coordinate all meal schedules, set-up and clean-up;
Know DEEC regulations as they pertain to the program and maintain program in accordance with regulations;
Be aware of and maintain the physical environment of the classroom(s);



Additional Qualifications:

III. QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be DEEC Director I qualified;
At least one year work experience with appropriate age group;
Associates, Bachelor's or advanced degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education;
Certified in CPR for children;
Certified in First Aid;
Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
Demonstrated ability to practice effective time management, organizational skills, priority management and analytical ability;
Sensitivity to multi-cultural issues, multi cultural training preferred;
Good role model;
Sound personal judgment, initiative and resourcefulness.
