Description:
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the intake, assessment, training and referral process for a GED/workforce development initiative targeted for Out-of-School Youth, ages 16-24 and homeless populations;
• Provide individual, group and parental counseling services;
• Develop and implement a life skills training curriculum targeted to participants, ages 16-24;
• Provide crisis intervention services including referral to entitlements services (housing, child care, medical, educational and other resources);
• Utilize inter team coordination and decision making to provide case management services to low income at risk inner city older adolescent and young adult populations (and family members where indicated);
• Maintain case management progress note summaries and database records as required by the funding sources;
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports
• Assist with various departmental activities as scheduled;
• Perform other duties as assigned;
• Reports to the Vice President of Youth Services
Additional Qualifications:
Requirements:
• Masters degree preferred; B.A. degree with proven equivalent work history;
• 3-5 years proven experience working with an older adolescent, “at-risk” Populations;
• Proficient counseling skills for individual and group modalities;
• Strong verbal, written communication and organizational skills mandatory;
• Strong computer skill with Microsoft Word and Excel software applications; capacity to maintain database records as per contractual requirements
• Sensitivity to low-income, multicultural populations;
• A capacity to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail;
• A capacity to work independently, as well as within a team
• Spanish/English proficiency is preferred
