San Francisco Maritime National Park Association is seeking a leader to be our Executive Director. For 59 years we have worked to bring maritime history to life. We do this both through our partnership with San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and our stewardship of USS Pampanito, a World War II submarine museum and memorial. Together at both locations we inspire over 18,500 children and adults a year in daytime and overnight education programs, and over 250,000 visitors aboard the National Historic Landmark ships. Over 1,000,000 visitors a year view our ships from shore. Every day visitors and students learn history, science, technology, and leadership aboard the historic ships. The ships and their stories inspire in a way that replicas and simulations cannot.
As Executive Director you will report directly to the board of directors. Your ability to motivate and support the staff of 45 (full and PT) and volunteers of the Association plus your ability to raise money will be your most important skills. During the recent difficult economy we slimmed down to our core mission with a $2.0 million per year budget. Your experience leading development, capital campaigns, and using financial tools are needed to rebuild our financial reserves. Experience in non-profit management, and a passion for historic ships, National Parks, museums, and education will all help you to shape our future.

This is a full-time exempt position. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience but limited by our resources to a range of $80,000-$90,000/year.
