Description:

The Disarm Education Fund seeks a Web Content Writer, responsible for creating and executing compelling, timely and informative website content, that promotes the organization’s mission of peace, social justice and human rights. The position offers a great chance to gain paid communication experience in a non-profit setting.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary content writer for developing persuasive material for a wide variety of media; including print, web, advocacy efforts, etc, while ensuring that content is strategic, targeted and engaging.

• Responsible for researching and writing concise, Web-friendly news articles based on relevant current events and feature articles on recent Disarm projects and programs

Writer will provide content to be featured on the homepage and throughout the site, and will be updated on a regular basis given current events and updates on Disarm programs. The ultimate goal of such pieces are to engage and expand the organization’s online community, following a website re-launch.

This is an 8-12 hour a week paid employment opportunity starting in November.

Qualifications
Applicants must have or must be pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, or international relations. The position requires strong writing and sharp editing, proofreading and grammatical skills, along with excellent time-management, organization and interpersonal skills. Applicant must be able to work independently, with a high level of creative initiative related to the expansion of new content. Applicant should have demonstrated knowledge and interest in health and economic, political, and social issues.
