THE ORGANIZATION
Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights helps people living in poverty or danger improve their lives and realize their human rights. From a refugee fleeing violence and torture to a public housing resident trying to escape the cycle of poverty, Heartland Alliance helps people in the toughest of circumstances—who often have no place else to go. THE POSITION
Staff in this position will work intensively with individuals who are chronically homeless and who have a disabling medical condition and a serious mental illness or who are dually diagnosed with a serious mental illness and a substance use disorder. Primary responsibilities include locating permanent housing for those individuals, assisting those individuals in staying housed, and identifying and linking participants to financial and other community supports. The ideal candidate will be flexible, resourceful, and comfortable working with participants in the community and developing relationships with landlords and other service providers. Experience with motivational interviewing and prior work in a medical setting is desirable; a commitment to the philosophy of harm reduction is required.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree and three years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications: A valid driver’s license may be required.
