Description:
AED is seeking a Program Coordinator to coordinate the implementation of the new Iraq Higher Education Network advising grant. It will also include organizing a series of training workshops in Baghdad and Erbil, developing training materials on higher education advising for Iraqi educators who want to assist Iraqi students interested in studying in the United States. S/he will also organize a visit to the United States for Iraqi educational advisers to attend an education conference, such as NAFSA, university campus visits, and enroll some advising in US-based educational advising training programs. These efforts will support the development of a network of higher education advisers in Iraq to support new scholarship programs for Iraqi university students. The Program Coordinator will work with local consultants and the US Embassy in Baghdad on organizing in-country logistics, as well as the selection of workshop participants.
Additional Qualifications:
At least five years experience required in international education, exchanges or training programs.
Experience with curriculum development strongly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of US higher education system required.
Experience monitoring or advising international students interested in studying in the United States preferred.
Knowledge/experience with Iraqi or Middle Eastern culture and politics preferred.
Experience in a fluctuating work environment with constantly changing needs and demands; proven ability to problem solve with staff and to encourage consistent, solid performance.
