Description:
Residence Advocate Needed for Weekends
Rosie’s Place, a 35 year old sanctuary for poor and homeless women, has an opening for a weekend Residence Advocate at our permanent living residence. This person will provide direct advocacy and support to residents with chronically, complex medical and disability needs. Your job will be to provide a safe and nurturing environment and to encourage women to take an active part in determining their future. Hours of this position are 7 am to 3 pm, Sat. and Sun.
We seek someone who:
o Is understanding of issues affecting poor and/or homeless women
o Can work individually with women in shared living, balancing their independence
o Is understanding and has sensitivity to issues relating to mental illness, HIV/AIDS, and addictions
o Has effective written and oral communication skills
o Is able to use reasonable judgment and problem solving techniques
o Has a valid driver's license
o Has a high school diploma or equivalent
Personal care giver or residential experience preferred.
