The EnCorps Teachers Program is an innovative public-private partnership changing the face of education in California. Dedicated to increasing the number of much-needed math and science teachers in California’s public middle and high schools, EnCorps helps math and science professionals to transition into teaching in low-income schools throughout California. Position Overview:
EnCorps is in the midst of substantial expansion and is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual to build our programming, presence, and impact in the Los Angeles region. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Program Director will play a critical leadership role in the development of our organization and will lead the recruitment of all EnCorps teachers in the region (approximately 100 full time and substitute teachers). In addition, s/he will provide ongoing support and training to each teacher in order to achieve the highest levels of student achievement. The Program Director will manage all current school relationships while actively cultivating additional partnerships with schools and administrators throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Regional Leadership
• Oversee all aspects of EnCorps’ programming in the Los Angeles region, including program planning, implementation, evaluation and overall program quality, driving superior performance against ambitious short-term and long-term goals for the region
• Create and manage relationships with schools and district leaders, ensuring effective teacher placements and long-term partnerships through exceptional program quality and relationship-management
• Serve as an advocate for EnCorps in the community
• Work closely with management team to gather, share and implement best practices while creating a vibrant learning community amongst EnCorps staff and program participants
Teacher Training, Support and Recruitment
• Develop strategic plan for teacher outreach efforts to meet ambitious goals at the regional level that includes building relationships with key organizational and corporate partners to develop pipelines of prospective teachers
• Coach prospective teachers on making the transition from the corporate sector into classroom teaching
• Create dynamic, relevant learning experiences and resources for EnCorps Teachers to improve performance and build skills and work closely with EnCorps teachers to define and work towards aggressive goals for student achievement
• In conjunction with the EnCorps team, design and execute key group training experiences including EnCorps’ Boot Camp and Winter Institute, coaching EnCorps teachers in the essential components of effective instruction and building their skills in goal setting, planning, assessments, and lesson execution
• Conduct classroom observations and analyze classroom data to assist EnCorps Teachers in determining key drivers for improving student achievement

qualifications:

• At least two years of classroom teaching experience and experience leading the training and development of new teachers
• Proven success in building and managing relationships with a diverse array of external constituent groups including corporate partners, government officials and educational leaders
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a high-level strategic leader and a hands-on implementer
• A passion for building successful programming combined with an entrepreneurial-spirit, high-energy work style and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving priorities
• Impeccable professionalism and communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
