Description:
The Assistant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administration of the Civic Education Project's school-year and summer service-learning programs, with significant responsibility for day-to-day operations.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Program & Site Development: Designs programs and curricula. Identifies and builds relationships with community partners. Organizes service projects, community experiences, and speakers.
2. Student Outreach: Oversees student recruitment and strategic outreach to families and educators. Develops and distributes promotional materials. Supports student application and admissions processes.
3. Staff Management: Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises temporary program staff and administrative support staff.
4. Program Logistics: Procures resources including classrooms, housing, transportation, and supplies to ensure that programs run smoothly.
5. Program Administration: Works in on-site administrative roles at sites throughout the country during spring and summer program seasons.
6. Financial & Data Management: Complies with budget performance goals and follows proper financial procedures. Manages recordkeeping. Compiles data to generate reports and analyses.
7. Organizational Development: Assists in the development of short- and long-term program plans, and supports program growth and sustainability.
8. Miscellaneous: Performs related duties as required or assigned to support the day-to-day operations of the program.
Position Details:
• Full time, salaried position
• Requires significant travel during spring and summer program seasons,
as well as occasional evening and weekend hours
• Two-year commitment requested
Additional Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree in a relevant field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills and abilities may be acquired.
2. A minimum of two to three years of work experience in an educational setting. Experience with teaching, curriculum development, or youth program administration preferred.
3. Experience organizing and facilitating service-learning or experiential education programs.
4. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the program.
5. Experience working with diverse, high-ability middle and high school students, as well as parents, educators, and community partners.
6. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
7. Strong organizational and planning skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with limited time and/or resources.
8. Strong computer skills. Proficiency with Macintosh platform and Microsoft Office software required. Experience with graphic design and web development applications preferred.
9. Self-motivation and problem-solving ability.
10. Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
