Description:
The Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent nonprofit, is driven by the power of knowledge to solve today’s most challenging problems. The mission of the Pew Environment Group is to promote policies and practices that protect the global atmosphere, preserve healthy forests and marine ecosystems.
Pew is searching for a senior associate for the Global Tuna Conservation Campaign. The successful candidate will be afforded the exciting opportunity to impact international marine conservation. This individual will be part of a team focused on transforming the management of 23 tuna species (including bluefin) on the high seas through work in various countries and regions, as well as through some of the key Regional Fisheries Organizations tasked with managing access to these species on the high seas.
The senior associate, Global Tuna Conservation Campaign provides program support to the senior officer and manager for the Global Tuna Conservation Campaign and reports to the senior officer.
-A minimum of four to eight years of related experience is required. Significant experience in at least two of the following areas is required: personnel management, project management, public policy advocacy, organizing, international campaigning, generating media coverage, and engaging policymakers.
-College degree required. Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
This position is located in Washington, DC. The Global Tuna Conservation Campaign is designed as a four-year effort, subject to renewal by the PCT board at the end of the second year. The position currently is approved for a 24 month term period through September 2011.
