Description:
Vision and mission: The Grants and Fundraising Coordinator builds interest, enthusiasm and support for NECC’s mission, making the case for support to donors and funders. You will also help facilitate communication back to NECC so that we are receptive and responsive to the needs, values and questions the community has.
Specific areas of responsibility:
Development and Fundraising
• In collaboration with the ED and board development committee, help create a development plan – research elements that go into such a plan, including goals, strategies, benchmarks, and timetable; prepare plan for presentation to the board.
• Create an overall development calendar for NECC, including all grant deadlines (foundation and government) including reporting deadlines; also to include individual solicitations, newsletters, and events
• Research new sources of funding including foundation, corporation and government grants
• Work with program staff to develop case statements and write grants, including gathering all supporting materials and budgets
• Writing and producing our twice-yearly newsletter
• Assisting with the updating of our website
• Writing press releases, brochures and other marketing materials and assisting with their distribution.
This position may grow over time to include other responsibilities, which will include:
• Work with the ED and board development committee on strategies for major gift solicitation
• Assist with events, including organizing and tasking volunteers, working with board committees, managing calendar and task lists, etc.
• Create the marketing plan for each program and project that requires outreach, including who will carry out the specific pieces (including graphics, poster distribution, press releases, etc.) and the timeline
• Assist with developing a marketing plan for NECC’s 20th anniversary (2010)
Additional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a professional development office with significant experience in grant research and writing. A plus will be someone who also has experience with individual and major gifts; event planning; marketing and public relations. Strong writing skills a must; writing samples will be required.
Strong work ethic, ability to both take initiative and to work as a team, willingness to roll up your sleeves and do the "little things" as well as see the big picture.
