Faculty, School of Social Work: MSW Program, Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Fall 2010

Salem State is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the school of social work for the 2010-2011 academic year. The faculty member will teach Human Behavior and the Social Environment as well as practice courses. Faculty responsibilities include teaching; advisement; scholarship; community service; shared administrative duties; and active participation in faculty governance and integrative curriculum development. Teaching responsibilities may include faculty field liaison assignments. The faculty member, as a part of a cooperative and collegial campus community, will advise students, perform college service and pursue research. This position is advertised subject to available funding.

Required qualifications include a PhD degree in social work or earned doctorate in related field; MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited school of social work; and a minimum of three years post-MSW practice experience. Preferred qualifications include: expertise and practice experience in older adult services, policies, and/or research; ability to assume administrative responsibilities in the MSW Program; previous university/college teaching experience; experience in and commitment to teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; and experience in distance learning and instructional technologies. Candidates who enjoy serving as role models and mentors for a diverse student body are preferred. The salary is competitive, and commensurate with education and experience.
