Leake and Watts Services Inc. is a non-for profit child welfare agency located in Yonkers, NY founded in 1831 serving New York City and surrounding communities. We provide foundations for individualized success to over 2,800 vulnerable children, adults, and families dealing with emotional, psychiatric, and cognitive challenges, as well as, an array of traumas through a continuum of high quality programs and services.

The main responsibility of the Youth Development Specialist is to provide independent living services to children 14-21 years of age while under care in order to improve/enhance their transitioning to adulthood. Some other responsibilities will include but, not be limited to:

• Conducting educational, vocational and other relevant Youth Development Skills Workshops.
• Performing all (ACS) casework requirements: transportation of youth to different locations as needed.
• Conducting Life Skills Assessments every three months for every youth
• Conducting casework counseling regarding issues of vocational, educational and employment referrals
• Referring Youth to vocational/educational and other programs in the community as needed.
• Processing Housing applications for youth in the different housing programs as needed.
• Planning and participate in recreational events.
• Assisting youth in Employment readiness and search
• Attending Monthly Youth Development Conferences at ACS and at different agencies as needed.
• Increasing awareness and assist in building competence in the application of Youth Development skills for the youth and staff.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required.
• Other assignments as directed by supervisor.

• BA/BS in a related human services field with 1-5 years if relevant work experience.
• Additional experience with job developing a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Current and clean tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) Driver’s License
