Mission:
Phoenix Youth at Risk has been transforming lives through mentoring in the Valley since 1989, emphasizing four cornerstone values: integrity, responsibility, community and possibility. We offer two mentoring programs.
The first is New Pathways, a transformational mentoring program for at-risk teens designed to build self-esteem, family relationships and leadership skills, increase school attendance and performance, decrease gang activity, violence, and substance abuse. The heart of our programs are our mentors - who work one-on-one with a youth committed to changing the direction of their life. We provide extensive training and support to our mentors and ask for a one-night a week commitment for the ten month program.
The second mentoring program is a more social-based mentoring program called P.A.L.S. (Positive Adult Leaders in Society) for youth 5 - 15 years old. The youth in this program are currently residing in a homeless shelter with their parent(s). The mentor works one on one with their youth, spending time together in the community at least one hour per week at their schedule.
Phoenix Youth at Risk offers Introductions on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:00 P.M. or from noon - 1:00 P.M. at their office located at 1001 E. Pierce Street, Phoenix 85006 (This is south of the I-10 freeway at the 7th street exit.) Please call Sylvia at 602-481-0212 to register for an Introduction..
