Mission:
World Hunger Year (WHY) attacks root causes of
hunger and poverty by promoting effective and
innovative community-based solutions which create
self-reliance, economic justice and food security.
WHY is a national nonprofit organization
co-founded in 1975 by the late singer-songwriter
Harry Chapin and present Executive Director Bill
Ayres. WHY's programs are Kids Can Make A
Difference, Reinvesting In America, National
Hunger Clearinghouse, The Chapin Awards and WHY
International.
