Mission:

St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center was founded in 1972 to assist first-time homebuyers in purchasing affordable homes in Baltimore. Over 5,000 families have bought homes with the assistance of St. Ambrose. Additional housing programs were added over the
years, all aimed at strengthening Baltimore’s racially integrating neighborhoods. Today, St. Ambrose offers homeownership counseling, default mortgage counseling and legal services for low-income homeowners. In addition, St. Ambrose manages 350 rental houses and apartments for low-income families and people with special needs like AIDS/HIV. We have a homesharing program matches people living alone who need extra income or help around the house with compatible housemates who need an affordable place to live. Our housing development program buys vacant, dilapidated houses and renovates them for homebuyers.
