Mission:

In 1993, the Louisiana Serve Commission was established in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor to rekindle the spirit of service and citizenship among the citizens of Louisiana.

The Louisiana Serve Commission receives the funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service, which was established under the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. The Louisiana Serve Commission awards grants to organizations and schools that foster civic responsibility and provide educational opportunities for those who make a substantial commitment to service.

The mission of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism is to preserve and enhance Louisiana's unique heritage and natural landscape; provide cultural, informational, and recreational resources; and promote the use of these resources by our diverse citizens and visitors.
