Mission:
The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum is dedicated to the preservation of its 1799 building and eight historic period rooms, which reflect the building's use as a country hotel in the 1820's and 1830's. Through tours of its historic rooms, public programs and school tours, the Museum promotes the dissemination of historical knowledge of New York City life during the first half of the 19th Century.
Tours are given to the visting public from Tuesday through Sunday. In addition, the museum sponsors numerous public programs throughout the year such as our Edgar Allan Poe readings, Candlelight Tours, Washington Birthday Ball and Summer Garden concert series. The Museum also gives curriculum based tours to public and private school children in the New York City area.
