Mission:
The Boston Resource Center [ www.BostonResourceCenter.org ]is a mental
health consumer and family peer education and recovery community
dedicated to improving the lives of people living with psychiatric
conditions and their families, friends, and other supporters. We are
primarily staffed by people in recovery from mental health and/or
addictions themselves. We are the lead partner of the Metro Boston
Recovery Learning Community, www.MetroBostonRLC.org We provide hope
to people diagnosed with mental illness and believe everyone has something
to offer our community. We are especially strong at helping people
with disabilities go back to work of their own choosing.
We feature a variety of support groups, fun groups, gym access, a library,
social activities, computer instruction one on one and in group settings
and entreprenuerial projects. We fund a warmline where peers can call
peers for support, see www.warmline.org
Through our partners, we reach out to the wider community with an educational,
anti-stigma, and awareness raising outreach program. The Resource
Center is sponsored by NAMI GB CAN (Consumer Advocacy/Affiliate
Network) www.namigbcan.org in partnership with the Boston Medical
Center Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Mental Health
Metro Boston Area Office. We are now part of the Metro Boston Recovery
Learning Community www.metrobostonrlc.org
