Mission:

Leake and Watts is a private not-for-profit corporation dedicated to strengthening resources for vulnerable children and families in the Greater New York region by providing a continuum of high quality community-based programs and specialized residential, educational and therapeutic services.

Established 177 years ago, Leake and Watts Services, Inc. is one of the largest and most respected social service agencies in the country. Leake and Watts has a demonstrated track record of developing innovative programs that meet the complex and ever-changing needs of vulnerable children and their families. Leake and Watts provides a wide-array of services to more than 3,000 inner-city children and families every day. The families we serve have often experienced emotional and physical disruption throughout their lives. The underlying strategy of our programs is to stop the disruption and start the healing by providing a continuum of care that minimizes at all points of service any further trauma.

Leake and Watts has always gone beyond what the government can fund to realize the fullest potential of the children and families in our care. While the government can provide the base of support for ongoing programs, it is private support that allows Leake and Watts to continually adapt and innovate to meet the ever-changing needs of today's families.
