Mission:
Drug Policy Alliance is the nation’s leading non-profit organization working to reform our nation’s failed drug policies. DPA's mission is to advance those policies and attitudes that best reduce the harms of both drug misuse and drug prohibition. Our work is grounded in the principles of harm reduction, an approach that seeks to minimize the negative consequences of both drug use and drug policies.
The New Mexico office is one of eight offices in four states and the District of Columbia. DPA retains 46 staff, and is supported by 26,000 dues-paying members and 107,000 online members.
The Drug Policy Alliance of New Mexico’s (DPA NM) main areas of focus are: achieving legal access to medical marijuana in New Mexico; enhancing the ability of the state’s drug treatment system to provide help to New Mexicans, especially nonviolent drug offenders; methamphetamine strategy development and education; expanding harm reduction services; and reducing the collateral consequences of drug convictions. DPA NM achieves results through its main functions of research, education, and advocacy.
