The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) was founded to discover a cure for carcinoid cancer. Carcinoid cancer typically develops from malignant growths in hormone-producing cells that line the small intestine or other cells of the digestive tract. Carcinoid is a deadly cancer with few treatments available; most existing treatments alleviate carcinoid symptoms but are not proven to regress or eliminate carcinoid tumors. Carcinoid patients struggle and die every day because no cure exists. CFCF is the only non-profit foundation dedicated to funding leading scientists who perform cutting-edge, genetically-based research to find a cure for carcinoid cancer. CFCF is unique in its focus on genetic research and it pursues a clearly defined, 3-step research road map based on guidance from its Board of Scientific Advisors. CFCF estimates that it will be possible to cure carcinoid in 7 to 10 years.
