The Fostering Connection is a non-profit organization that provides pro bono psychotherapy to children, youth and families affected by foster care in New York City as long as it is needed or desired.

We carefully screen and match potential clients (referrals come from foster care agencies, private individuals, community organizations, etc.) with appropriate private practice, licensed clinicians (social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.) who provide high-quality psychotherapy. Therapists meet with their clients one hour a week for as long as needed or desired- which often lasts for months or years. We strive to establish lasting relationship that help the young person address the many challenges and traumas they have faced.

In order to support our volunteers in providing pro bono therapy, our therapists also participate in weekly peer consultation groups that are facilitated by a senior clinician, and other professional development opportunities to help sustain the critical relationships and work.
