Mission:

Since 1898, The Salvation Army has been at work in Alaska. Our programs are at work in over 16 communities throughout the state. The Salvation Army operates 35 facilities in the state, providing comprehensive services to homeless families, older Alaskans, teens and adults with substance abuse and mental health issues. The Salvation Army of Alaska is striving to provide communities with the programs they need to be physically, mentally and spiritually healthy.

Majors Douglas and Sheryl Tollerud are the current divisional leaders, responsible for the ministry of The Salvation Army in Alaska.

In the words of General Booth the founder of The Salvation Army:

“While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight;
While little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight;
While men go to prison, in and out, as they do now,
I'll fight:
While there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor girl upon the streets,
While there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight ...
I'll fight to the very end!
