Mission:
EQUIP Liberia has a ten year proven record of sustainable impact through integrated, in-depth, participatory community mobilization and capacity building. Our innovative health promotion manuals and materials are used by many other NGOs. Long term loyalty to beneficiaries and sustainability through training volunteers are key aspects of EQUIP’s approach. Our programs include:
HEALTH: Community based fully integrated health education and promotion, HIV AIDS and Malaria reduction, Maternal and Child Health, immunization, local income generation and agricultural improvement to support progress in health.
WATER and SANITATION: we have provided over 180 wells with hand pumps for
safe drinking water, over 400 latrines and intensive hygiene education
in Nimba and Sinoe Counties leading to significant reductions in diarrhea cases.
EDUCATION: for war affected children and their families (Formal and Non Formal) Training and equipping over 1000 School Health Teachers and School Health Clubs as agents of change.
PROTECTION: of human rights, counselling, advocacy and legal assistance, education and support groups for victims of murder, gender based violence, sexual exploitation / abuse, torture and other major crimes fully integrated with our Community health work. We are tackling impunity of abusers through support for prosecution (leading to over 120 arrests and groundbreaking convictions of 12 rapists and 15 murders in Nimba) and have provided care for over 100 victims of violent crimes mostly young girls.
Orphans and vulnerable children: We continue to care for over 400 orphaned and abandoned children, including severely malnourished children, through Child Welfare Committees, CHW foster families and Come Eat at My Table Mothers care groups and through church support groups.
