The South Dakota Guardianship Program is a non-profit organization with a primary purpose to provide professional guardianship, conservatorship and related protective services for adults with developmental and other mentally disabling conditions. The SDGP complies with SDCL 29A-5 in carrying out its mission and services. SDGP is an alternative source of guardianship and conservatorship when family members or others are unable or unavailable to assume responsibility. It's secondary mission is to provide support services to professionals, parents and family members, people with developmental disabilities and others about guardianship, conservatorship and related protective services. The services include consultation, education, information and assistance. The SDGP recognizes the serious responsiblities and impact involved in assuming guardianship and conservatoship. Persons referred to the SDGP have basic rights and these rights will be acknowledged, supported and protected.
