Mission:

ACORN exists to build power for working poor families who are organizing for fair and affordable housing, better public schools, and a fair share of government resources. ACORN organizes communities to hit the streets and take direct action on issues of social and economic justice. Through protests, rallies, marches, and demonstrations, ACORN members demand and create change in their neighborhoods. Founded in 1970, ACORN is the nation's largest grassroots organization of low- and moderate-income families, with over 150,000 member families in 42 states. As a national organization with a grassroots base, ACORN members win changes on their own block and in Washington, D.C.
