Mission:

The National Black Lesbian and Gay Leadership Forum is the only national organization dedicated to empowering the nation's Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and trandsgendered community. Founded in Los Angeles in March 1988, the organization was formed as an alternative for lesbians and gay men of African descent to exchange information and address urgent issues facing the African-American l/g/b/t community. With thousands of members in all 50 states and several foreign countries, from urban, suburban, and rural communities, and from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the Forum is committed to advocating for our community, educating ourselves and others about the contributions of African-American lesbigaytrans people to our culture and our nation, and organizing our community to improve our lives.
