MEN CAN STOP RAPE (MCSR) is a Washington, DC-based, internationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that mobilizes young men to find and use their strength for creating a culture free from violence, especially men's violence against women. Since its inception in 1997, Men Can Stop Rape has led the call to redefine masculinity and male strength as part of preventing men’s violence against women. In contrast to traditional efforts that address men as “the problem,” MCSR embraces men as vital allies with the will and character to make healthy choices and foster safe, equitable relationships.
As the leader of the primary violence prevention field, MCSR provides services in three distinct areas: direct services for youth (our high school-based Men of Strength or MOST Club), public education messaging (Strength Mediaworks posters, banners, and postcards), and leadership training (Strength Trainings and our Campus Strength program).
Named by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as one of the “world’s most innovative domestic violence prevention programs,” Men Can Stop Rape’s services have been utilized by high schools, colleges, government agencies, and service providers all over the globe. MOST Club is now in over seven states, over 35 colleges have joined our Campus Strength program, and the Department of Defense solicited Men Can Stop Rape to design their upcoming PSA campaign.
On April 14-15, 2009 Men Can Stop Rape hosted its first National Conference on the Primary Prevention of Men’s Violence Against Women - “Men and Women as Allies” – at the Hyatt Regency Washington-Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
