The Mental Health Association in Utah is a private not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1954 as a 501 (3) (c). Our mission is to promote mental health by advocating for persons living with a mental illness and educating the public at large about mental illness in order to reduce stigma. We carry out our mission by holding educational seminars for primary care providers on the recognition of clinical depression and anxiety disorders in all age groups so that they can do routine screening. We educate mental health professionals about cultural competency. We work with the legislature to help get legislation passed that increases the quality of life for people with mental illness and we work directly with consumers by providing logistical support for the
