Mission:
MISSION STATEMENT
The Oklahoma History & Western Heritage Center is established to collect, preserve, research, understand, educate, exhibit and interpret a collection of historical artifacts relevant to and illustrative of the historical importance of Oklahoma & Indian Territory; to exhibit, promote and market art forms related to Oklahoma & Indian Territory culture.
The Oklahoma History & Western Heritage Center is created with the purpose to enhance public knowledge, understanding, and the appreciation of Oklahoma & Indian Territory; to interpret and understand history through the exhibition of cultural artifacts/objects and concepts.
To accomplish these goals the Indian Oklahoma History & Western Heritage Center resolves to:
1. Preserve the history of events and diverse groups of people and their role in establishing the local history which made up present day Oklahoma & Indian Territory.
2. Endeavor to instill a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the history of Oklahoma & Indian Territory.
3. Through educational programming, exhibition, collections, and preservation the association will endeavor to engage, educate, and enrich peoples of all ages and backgrounds.
VISION STATEMENT
The Oklahoma History & Western Heritage Center will be a leader among the nation's museums with productive and high profile accomplishments in the arts, exhibitions, education, and research. The Cultural Center will focus on collaborative partnerships with many groups as it seeks to fulfill its mission. The Center will be defined by its ability to help people broaden their knowledge and understanding about Oklahoma/Indian Territory and to understand more clearly the natural and cultural roots from which all people draw strength for the future.
