Mission:
The mission statement of the Institute for Urban Family Health is to develop high-quality, efficient and cost-effective family practices catering to the needs of the medically under-served populations.
In support of this mission, the Institute:
1. Develops and operates health facilities on a family practice model integrating the work of a broad range of health professionals
2. Trains health professionals and other health care workers in the family practice model of care;
3. Engages in health services research related to primary health care delivery and primary care education;
4. Formulates health policy in support of its direct patient care and educational goals;
5. Supports the responsible implementation of managed care as a means of aligning our health care financing system with a better quality delivery system;
6. Promotes the diversity of its workforce and provides an environment which promotes opportunities for personal and professional development for all (Dimensions such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, marital and parental status, age and disability are elements that are given special attention).
