Mission:
Community Shares is a statewide coalition "owned" and operated by its members -- grassroots social, economic and environmental justice organizations serving Tennessee, The mission of Community Shares is "to support social change organizations in Tennessee in order promote a more just and caring community". Specifically Community Shares raises donations from payroll deduction campaigns to support problem-solving organizations addressing the root causes of issues such as poverty, hunger, and racism, seeking positive changes on a systemic or institutional level.
Community Shares seeks to support organizations that:
*Promote a more equitable distribution of resources, wealth, and power;
*Give people the tools to act together to affect change on a systems level;
*Work to eliminate the social, economic, cultural, and political barriers that keep people from fully participating in society.
*Promote respect for and sustainability of the environment.
