Mission:
CPWR is a research institute dedicated to improving health and safety in the construction industry. CPWR's main focus is to develop practical ways to improve safety and health for construction workers and their families. As the research, development, and training arm of the Building and Construction Trades Department and the construction unions in the AFL-CIO, CPWR works with more than 50 organizations nationwide. CPWR is funded primarily by federal grants focusing on areas such as exposure assessment, injury prevention, ergonomics, and education and training. We work in close cooperation with labor and management to assess the scope of problems and design effective prevention programs.
