He did his Performing Arts Learnership provided by MAPPSETA and managed by CREATESA. This KwaCulture Best actor Award winner with Pack Of lies as his debut as a director and Ishashalazi Best Director winner with his one-man show titled Dog Style. The Mercury Durban Theatre Award nominee for Lead Actor and New South African Script Writer in comedy category, Spha Mzobe wrote the award winning Tastes Like Strawberries, which has been nominated six times on Mercury Durban Theatre Awards. He also performed on the same show directed by Lorie award winner Seputla Sebogodi and performed it at The State Theatre, Playhouse DBN, Windybrow Theatre and Grahamstown Festival.

Commercials in which he has appeared include Build It on SABC 1/2/3 directed by Domenic Black in 2004/6 and Ice Tea. He will be appearing on a film version of Nothing But The Truth alongside John Kani directed Ross Devenish. He also worked as a host and a producer of StageTv for GDTV.

His stage credits have included Shame performed at The Playhouse Durban, Wall in Durban by Gerald Samuels staged at The Playhouse and Denmark, Journey Without Words by Seputla Sebogodi performed in Grahamstown, School Fever-an educational play for schools, He has done some industrial and corporate work for Spoornet, Illovo Sugar and Standard Bank. He also starred in Edmond Mhlongo’s One Among Many/ Albert Luthuli Musical at The Playhouse.
Spha’s performance is well described as sharp and unique. He has also worked part time as a drama facilitator and events coordinator for KCAP/Ekhaya Multi Arts Centre and his one of the best children entertainers for Reach for a Dream Foundation project called Jabulani Kingdom. He is founder and Artistic Director of Wala-Wala Productions.
