Description:

Sixteen years ago, I began my career in the not for profit sector as the Director of Religion and Community Relations for Advocate Health Care.

My focus, for major gift fund raising, was child abuse prevention, senior care, inner city health care and maternal child health care. In this role, I interacted with various Boards, Women's Auxiliaries, Corporations and Foundations.

After Advocate, I served in senior fund development positions with the American Cancer Society Illinois Division, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois and Prevent Child Abuse America. My range of experience in these roles included capital campaigns, major gifts, foundation and corporate relations.

At Advocate Health Care we increased the number of $1,000 donors from 80 to 800 in three years. In 1995, I was assigned the lead role in a successful effort to achieve a $500K grant , from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, for the Interfaith Council's Respite Center for Veterans (Interfaith Council for the Homeless).

Before joining the not for profit sector, I held positions with Tandy Corporation and London House, Inc. In the latter organization, I led a nationwide effort training major national companies in employment screening to prevent theft, violent behavior and illicit drug use. Some of the major clients served were Hertz Rent A Car, the U.S. Secret Service, Cook County, Walmart and Wells Fargo.

At Tandy I was one of the top sales leaders for Metro Chicago with a focus on educational institutions.

I am an experienced professional fundraiser. My colleagues would describe me as focused, disciplined , persistent and having a great sense of humor. Of course, you can ask them if it is true!

The skills I could provide to the overall mission would be relationship building, business development, fund development, grant writing, sales, customer relations/service, managing staff, communication (written and spoken), PC literate (inclusive of Internet research, Raisers Edge, Siebel, Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point).
