Description:

This volunteer will work in conjunction with the orphanage staff, and will be responsible with:
- Coordination of our after-school and holiday education program
- Assessment of children academic progress
- Identification of individual strengths and weaknesses
- assist in developing teaching plans and be creative with the resources available
- Coordination of our brand new Research and Learning Centre
housing 10 computers, 10 sewing machines and a library.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Teaching qualification (including TEFL) would be an advantage but not essential, patience, good with children, self-motivated, creative and willingness to learn.

LOCATION OF THE PROGRAM
The program is located at Maragwa approximately 70 kilometers north of Nairobi

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The duration depends on the volunteer’s availability and travel arrangements. We recommend that volunteers stay 3 months to fully experience Kenyan life and to have an impact upon the community however volunteers are welcome for any period. For volunteers wanting to travel, we are able to assist with providing information.

PROGRAM FEE
US$90 per week payable prior or at the start of the placement.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
Food & accommodation are provided as part of the program.

AIR TICKET AND TRAVEL COSTS
Volunteers are required to purchase their own airline tickets. A representative of the program will meet you at the airport upon arrival.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
services such as internet, telephone, countryside travels, gift items, amenities etc are available at a small fee
