CREA (http://www.crea-panama.org) is a small non-profit in Panama that works with poor farmers to help wean them from traditional slash-and-burn farming techniques to rainforest-friendly sustainable techniques.

We have a beautiful 1000 acre nature reserve ("Cocobolo") which we use as a base for connecting with the local community, researching and demonstrating sustainable agricultural practices, and bringing American high school students for educational trips.

We are looking for volunteers who would like to spend at least 3 months living at and managing Cocobolo Nature Reserve and its organic demonstration farm.

As a volunteer of Cocobolo you will work with the local staff and the field coordinator, connecting with locals, leveraging all your skills and creativity to deliver the greatest service to the community.

Successful candidates speak Spanish and posses people management skills, and experience with organic farming, reforestation and/or conservation.

We are a small organization doing some remarkable work. If you think you have the skills, and are looking for a chance to really make a difference as a volunteer, then please speak up! For the right person or couple, this is an outstanding opportunity!

Details: CREA will provide camp-style housing at Cocobolo with kitchen and bathroom facilities. There is no "program fee" for this. You will be responsible for your travel to & from Panama, and we will provide transportation from Panama City to Cocobolo which is located about 3 to 5 hours from Panama City, the nearest town being Chepo.

Please email a letter explaining why you think this position is right for you, and a resume highlighting both relevant and other experience, to admin@crea-panama.org. If you have questions, feel free to email in advance of preparing an application.
