A Volunteer Counselor is needed to provide clinical support to individuals challenged mentally or emotionally. Counseling needs may vary according to gender violence, behavioral challenges, HIV/AIDS, immigration issues, poverty, drug abuse, social disorder, and mental disability. Provide walk-in counseling service, assess counseling needs in the community, provide counselor training upon request, and offer counseling assistance to agencies in our community (Women’s Department, Police Department, schools, etc.). Volunteers are required to sign an oath of confidentiality.

Cornerstone provides accommodations (dorm style), a hot home cooked Belizean midday meal on work days, orientations (volunteer, house, cultural, office, and program), staff direction, professional networking, mentoring, and office space (including equipment and supplies).

Cornerstone’s office and housing are located in San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize (11 miles from Guatemala). Volunteer terms range from three to six months. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Students, retirees, and other adults are welcome to apply.
