Description:

The Salvation Army of Alaska is seeking an energetic, responsible, dependable volunteer to expand it's internal recycling program.

Currently, The Salvation Army collects aluminum cans at it's Divisional Headquarters from its employees and recycles them locally. Our goal to include more recyclable materials (newspapers, magazines, plastic bags, etc.) and collect them at every Salvation Army program in Anchorage. Several of these programs are residential, so the potential to collect a large amount of recyclable material is quite high. Any proceeds are donated to one of the many Salvation Army Social Service Programs.

We need a volunteer(s) to help expand the program and transport recyclables to the Smurfit Recycling Center in Anchorage once or twice a week. Volunteers will need to use their own vehicle for transportation.

Volunteers must have a valid Alaska Driver's License, be able to lift up to a maximum of 50lbs and be willing to commit to at least 3 hours a week.

This is great experience for anyone interested in program managment and fundraising.
