American Friends Service Committee (AFSC)

Get involved! Support AFSC’s work for peace and social justice!

AFSC is an international peace and social justice organization, and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Since its founding by Quakers in 1917, the AFSC has brought people of diverse backgrounds together to work for and promote human rights in the United States and throughout the world. Its work is based on a Quaker belief in the dignity and worth of every person, and a faith in the power of love and nonviolence to bring about change.

AFSC’s bookstore carries a wide selection of books by and about Quakers and AFSC program topics, including some wonderful books for children. Books are mainly sold online at www.afscstore.org, as well as at Quaker gatherings and AFSC-related events. AFSC needs assistants in its bookstore, to do the following:

Review books (in English or Spanish)
Enter descriptions and graphics on the website (in English or Spanish)
Oversee one or more bookstore topics
Staff the bookstore at Quaker yearly meetings and events
Create a business and marketing plan
Plan and coordinate literary events
Transport books to events
