Description:
We are looking for volunteers to become big brothers and big sisters in our organization. One must be over the age of 18 to become a community based volunteer. In order to qualify to become a volunteer, one must attend an orientation, go through an extensive interview, complete a background check, and provide three references.
Once a volunteer is matched they will spend at least 2-4 times a month with the child they are matched with for the minimum of one year. Our organization will contact all parties in the match each month, to monitor the development of the relationship.
The volunteer is responsible for providing a learning and friendly atmosphere when they are together. It is the responsibility of the volunteer to be a postive adult role model in the life of the child, and should help mentor the child in their life goals.
Matches are free to find their own activities to do together such as walking their dogs, playing in the park, going golfing, seeing a movie, hiking, swimming, go kart racing, etc.
