Description:
The Prevention Information Resource Center & Parent Helpline provides information and referral services to parents, families, professionals and others who are concerned about preventing child abuse. It is the only statewide helpline in New York specifically focused on family issues, providing callers with direction on challenges related to parenting education and support, coping with children's challenging behaviors, child protective services, family court, child care, victim's treatment services, counseling, anger management and more. Through this information and referral service, callers are connected to places in their community where they can find help.
Depending on availability, Parent Helpline volunteers answer calls from our office or from their homes. There is a an interview process and brief training period.
Must be 21 years old to answer Helpline calls. Internet research and data entry positions are available to volunteers under 21.
