Volunteers are needed to help create new textile designs and garment styles, working with women entrepreneurs to produce new concepts (batiking cloth to sewing garments). These products will be made by members of the Global Mamas fair trade cooperative and exported to Western markets. Through a short-term volunteer assignment (2 weeks - 4 months), you can give purpose to your time off work and make a difference in the future of woman-owned micro enterprises in Ghana.

Departure Dates
Women in Progress volunteer programs operate year round in Ghana. Volunteers arrive monthly in Accra and go through the in-country orientation with other incoming volunteers.
Fees:
Volunteers generously contribute their time and skills and pay a reasonable fee to help cover the costs of providing business development services to small woman-owned enterprises in Ghana.
The Volunteer Program Fee covers the following items:
Pre-departure support
Orientation Packet
Lodging in Ghana
In-country volunteer support
Project-related expenses
To keep the overall cost down, volunteers are responsible for obtaining various items before departure. Women in Progress will provide assistance as needed to help the volunteer in obtaining the following items:
Travel medical insurance (including emergency evacuation coverage)
Visa to Ghana
Required vaccinations
Airline ticket
In an effort to keep the volunteer program flexible enough to cover the needs and wants of all types of participants, volunteers are responsible for covering the cost of food and in-country ground transportation during their stay. Depending on one’s level of required comfort, food and transport can be either pennies a day, or dollars a day. That is up to the volunteer to decide.
